What I do

I cut hedges. I reduce overgrown ones.

That is it. I do not do tree surgery, lawn care, fencing or the rest of the garden-services bundle. Hedges are a craft worth being good at, and I keep my focus narrow so I am.

Why local matters here

Tenterden's Georgian and Victorian High Street sits inside the town's designated conservation area (Ashford ref CA-43, designated 10 October 1996), and the section-211 rules apply to any tree or hedge stem over 75mm at chest height. Out beyond the ridge the town sits on, the ground drops into heavy Wealden clay, holds water hard through winter, bakes solid in a dry summer, exactly the ground that has grown field-boundary hawthorn and blackthorn hedging across the Weald for centuries. Several of the outlying villages, Rolvenden and Biddenden among them, have their own conservation areas too.

A contractor without that patch-specific knowledge will not know any of it without being told. I work this ground every week. The conservation-area paperwork is included. The nesting-season timing is built into how I schedule spring and summer work. The species recommendations match what actually thrives on Wealden clay, not a generic supplier list.

How I work

Photos and postcode for an initial quote. I can give a fixed price for most routine cuts without coming out. Reductions usually need a site visit (free, no obligation).
Fixed-price quotes. No day-rate creep. If the job runs longer than I expected, that is my problem, not yours.
Conservation-area paperwork handled. If your address needs a section-211 notice to Ashford Borough Council, I file it. Cost included in the quote.
Nesting-aware timing on cliff-adjacent work. A quick survey before any Mar–Sep work within reach of the SSSI edge, and honest advice on what should wait for October.
All arisings cleared. Clippings go to Ashford HWRC (Cobbs Wood, Brunswick Road, Ashford TN23 1EL) or get chipped, never burned on site.
Bank transfer or cash. Invoice or receipt either way.

What you will not get

A salesman trying to upsell a "garden makeover."
A quote that doubles when I arrive.
A botched cut to compensate for not telling you the hedge actually needs a reduction.
A quiet job in June that ignores the nesting law.
